Brookfield Properties and the Crafts Council present a collection of works from the archive of Matt Smith, represented by Cynthia Corbett Gallery, in an open public exhibition hosted at 99 Bishopsgate, London. This marks the first time different series by the artist have been brought together in one exhibition.
Opening on 18 September, Matt Smith: 2020 at 99 Bishopsgate features 20 works, ranging from tapestries to ceramic sculpture. The winner of the Brookfield Properties Crafts Council Collection Prize at Collect 2020 exhibited by the Cynthia Corbett Gallery, Matt Smith works as a hybrid artist and curator, unpicking the work of establishment organisations and their points of reference, as well as those of their visitors.
The exhibition, a curatorial collaboration between Brookfield Properties, Crafts Council and Matt Smith, will welcome tenants of 99 Bishopsgate, local workers and art-lovers across London as activity starts to return to the City in the autumn.
